The Olbia Challenger is warming up with a special presentation in Sardinia – The Terranova Tennis Club hosted Flavio Cobolli, currently on vacation in Sardinia and a guest of the club, which is hosting Challenger 125, organized by MEF Tennis Events, scheduled for October 12-19. The ATP world number 25, fresh from his third-round derby at the US Open against Lorenzo Musetti, returned to the place that allowed him to break into the Top 100 two seasons ago, when he played an excellent tournament, losing only in the final to Kyrian Jacquet. After an exceptional season that also saw him win two ATP titles (in Bucharest and Hamburg), Cobolli is recharging his batteries ahead of the final stages of his 2025 campaign.
Cobolli returns to Sardinia – One of Flavio Cobolli’s most notable Challenger performances came at the Terranova Tennis Club in 2023: on the greenset courts of the Sardinian club, the current world number 25 played his fifth (and final) Challenger final before breaking into the Top 100 and launching himself fully onto the main circuit. “It’s wonderful to be here in Olbia and back at the Terranova Tennis Club,” Flavio said during today’s event. “I’m thrilled to return to the place where I played one of my best Challenger tournaments; the atmosphere is always wonderful.” During the morning at the club, Cobolli retraced his early days in tournaments organized by MEF Tennis Events: “I’m aware of my journey, where I started. It’s also thanks to the help of Marcello, Elena, and Federica that I’ve become the player I am today. I still remember my first wild card in qualifying in Todi, when I faced Carlos Alcaraz. Today, he’s one of my dearest friends on the circuit, as well as a constant source of inspiration.” The third edition of the Olbia Challenger is scheduled for October 12th to 19th, with many young prospects and high-level matches: “Everyone’s playing great these days,” concluded ‘Cobo’, “even the ATP number 300. There’s no big difference with those higher up in the rankings. My advice for those who dream of great tennis? Simple: never give up.”
